NOTIFICATION

**ATTENTION AREA RESIDENTS**

THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT IS MAKING EVERY EFFORT TO COMBAT RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES. SINCE COMMUNITY AWARENESS IS THE KEY TO PREVENTION WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE:

Since January 2nd, there have been several Residential Burglaries targeting homes in the Coldwater Canyon community north of Beverly Hills. In the most recent incident, the suspect’s forced entry into the home while the resident was inside (Hot Prowl).

2400 block Coldwater Cyn. RD 0809.MO: On 01/02/12 between 1200 and 1730, suspect(s) pried the single family residence side door and removed computer and jewelry.

2000 block Coldwater Cyn. RD 0809.MO: On 01/02/12 between 1600 and 1800, suspect(s) pried the single family residence front door and removed firearms and jewelry.

2200 block Betty Lane. RD 0809.MO: On 01/02/12 at 1630 suspect(s) kicked in single family residence side door activating the alarm. Suspect(s) removed jewelry.

2100 block Coldwater Cyn. RD 0809. MO: (Hot Prowl) On 1/11/12, at approximately 2115 hours, suspects smashed a rear window and gained entry into the residence. The resident who was sleeping inside retreated to the master bathroom. The suspects entered the master bedroom and closet removing Jewelry and Watches.

HOME SECURITY TIPS:

LOCK ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS, INCLUDING REAR AND GARAGE DOORS, BEFORE LEAVING THE RESIDENCE.

ENSURE THAT ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS INCLUDING SLIDING GLASS DOORS HAVE STRONG, WORKING LOCKS.

IF YOUR RESIDENCE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ALARM SYSTEM, ENSURE THAT IT HAS APPROPRIATE COVERAGE FOR YOUR SECURITY NEEDS.

ENSURE THAT ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS ARE ALARMED. AND THE MASTER BEDROOM AND HALLWAYS HAVE MOTION SENSORS DETECTORS.

ACTIVATE YOUR ALARM WHEN EVER YOU LEAVE YOUR RESIDENCE.

ENSURE THAT YOUR VIDEO SURVEILANCE SYSTEM IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.

RECORD THE SERIAL NUMBERS OF YOUR ELECTRONIC AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, AND KEEP RECORDS IN A SECURE LOCATION.

KEEP RECORDS AND PHOTOS OF NON-SERIALIZED VALUABLES.

KEEP YOUR PROPERTY WELL-LIT DURING THE EVENING AND EARLY MORNING HOURS.

IF YOU OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, CONTACT POLICE IMMEDIATELY BY CALLING 911 (EMERGENCY) OR 877-ASK-LAPD (877-275-5273) (NON-EMERGENCY).

OBTAIN A DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT(S)’ PHYSICAL APPEARANCE, ACTIONS, AND ANY VEHICLE DESCRIPTIONS, INCLUDING LICENSE PLATE NUMBERS. DO NOT CONFRONT SUSPICIOUS INDIVIDUALS.
