The Los Angeles Fire Department has hired a contractor to trim trees along Beverly Glen. The scheduled times and a description follows.
Your Traffic Committee Chair has discussed the impact on traffic and LAFD will be asking the contractor to do work on weekends on our side whenever possible, cialis generic and not to set up in the morning until after 10 am, to avoid disrupting the morning commute. We believe they will make best efforts to keep traffic flowing when at all possible.
The planned segments for work (approx 2 days each) are as follows:
1. Parkwood to Greendale
2. Greendale to Hollybrush
3. Hollybrush to Fernbush
4. Fernbush to Crater
5. Crater to Caribou
6. Caribou to Seabury
7. Seabury to Ravenwood
8. Ravenwood to Nicada
9. Nicada to Beverly Glen Circle
10. Beverly Glen Circle to Mulholland
11. Sunset to Parkwood (fit in as traffic allows)
The trimming will be raising canopy up to 14 feet and in some places bringing the canopy back in places. There will be lots of raising of small branches and removal of dead wood. There will also be trimming back of hedges and other thick vegetation that extends into the roadway (e.g., ficus hedges, bamboo, etc.). The Fire Department has made every effort to accommodate protected tree species (e.g., oaks and sycamores) while cleaning up hazardous situations such as dead wood and peeling bark on eucalyptus trees. Volunteers from Residents of Beverly Glen have been working very closely with the Brush Clearance Unit to protect our beautiful tree canopy where possible.
For more information about the project, please contact the LAFD Brush Clearance Unit: John Novela, 818-778-4927.
We will gather at the LDRCC located at 10409 Scenario Lane at 1:30pm for a light lunch. Each home has happily agreed to provide additional refreshments as we progress through the canyon on our excursion.
Please be prepared with sun protection; hats or umbrellas and sunscreen. Comfortable safe walking shoes are a must.
Viretta is somewhat of a steep narrow street with several stairs leading up to the home. Perdido does have steps but handrails are not
in place. Children are welcome but need to be able to walk up steep trails while others may wish to bring walking sticks for assistance.
A special bonus this year is that Heidi Santschi of HEIDI SANTSCHI Garden Design, cialis Inc. and a local glen resident has agreed to join us as our horticultural leader. This is a great addition to what we hope will be a horticulturally enlightening day!
The schedule is as follows:
Chis and Marydee Donnan’s property at 10453 Scenario Lane will wow us with a World War II bomb shelter that has been
converted into a wine cellar. The property also features bird baths and fountains in a lovely amphitheater hillside setting.
Todd Clark and Jama Laurent’s property at 2225 Beverly Glen Place also known as the Conservancy Garden is blossoming.
Jan Riggs property at 10319 Viretta Lane boasts a traditional Glen property while offering beautiful roses in a quaint setting.
David May’s property at 2519 Perdido Lane is 5 acres of orchards, see cactus, and lush grounds. David has been a part of the Glen Garden Walk for several years and will provide us with information on the history and development of his labor of love. There will be an opportunity at
the end of the presentation to take a 30 minute round trip hike up to the ridge that overlooks Stone Canyon Reservoir.
David has kindly requested that cars are parked on Beverly Glen Blvd or Lower Perdido Lane
Please call Sharalee 310-967-9025 or email email@example.com if you have any questions or suggestions.
